What fantastic Women’s marches and actions there were around the province last week and weekend! The energy was great with so many women and allies saying loud and clear #WeWillNotGoBack, #IDoNotGiveConsentToThisGovernment, the #PowerOfMany are pushing back!
It was wonderful to see so many marches and solidarity actions occurring in your communities. We saw several news reports from around the province reporting on the women’s march events which had great photos. The Power of Many scarves looked really good! If you have any photos you’d like to share, please send them to OFL Communications Director Meagan Perry at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can include them in the OFL action report and on our social media for others to see.
You can still help broadcast the message of strength and solidarity by sharing the petition which asks the PC government to not take away social and economic rights for women and marginalized people with your networks and ask your affiliates, community members, friends and family to sign it. The petition can be signed online by texting WOMEN to 647-496-5602 or by visiting https://www.myrights.ca.
It can also be downloaded for printing here:
• Petition: Don’t take away social and economic rights for women and marginalized people (English version)
• Petition: Don’t take away social and economic rights for women and marginalized people (French version)
We will be collecting signatures on the petition through to International Women’s Day. Speaking of #IWD, if you are planning an IWD event or action or know of one being planned in your region, please let us know by emailing OFL Human Rights & Women’s Rights Director Carrol Anne Sceviour at email@example.com so we can update our events list.
On a separate note, please refer to Brother Chris Buckley’s email from yesterday regarding the ramp up of our ‘Power of Many’ fightback campaign. We will be bringing together labour leaders, activists, and community allies to work on our Ford fightback strategies and grow our resistance. Your participation is very important.
